Laspotech 23rd convocation ceremony
The Lagos state polytechnic held her 23rd convocation ceremony for the award of National diplomatic(ND),higher national diploma (HND) and presentation of prizes for the 2012/2013 & 2013/2014 academic sessions today the 9th April, 2015 at the i new school of agriculture auditorium, ikorodu campus.
The procession to the convocation arena started at about 10:00 am,then national anthem was led by d music band followed by laspotech anthem led by Mrs Olubunmi Adedoyin. after which the rector Abdulazeez Abioye Lawal gave his speech. various dignitaries were present also even as the governor of Lagos state his excellency,Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola(San) represented by the special adviser to his Excellency on education Otunba Fatia Olukoga,Lagos state also gave his speech.
Award of national diploma & higher national diploma commenced and was followed by the presentation of prizes in which the school of management and business management produced the best students overall with Ismaila Olatunji Akanbi of the department of accounting(nd) with cgpa 4.00 and Esther Ayoola Odunayo and Prisca Nneka Mbagwu both emerged as the best in the department of business administration with 3.90 cgpa respectively. valedictory speech was given on behalf if the graduands.the total number of graduants were 7045.
Closing/vote of thanks by the registrar MRS Aderonke Olufunke Ige and the convocation Ceremony ended with the national anthem at about 12:30pm.

Pvc progress report on registration and distribution.
Regarding the 2015 General Election which has been scheduled for the 28th of march 2015. It is somewhat very disheartening that about 35 percent of Nigerians are yet to collect their PVC (permanent voters card) Nationwide.
Below is the progress report on distribution of permanent voters card so far.
Abia State records 82 percent PVC distribution

Eighty two per cent of registered voters in Abia state, South East Nigeria, have collected their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of March 28 general elections.
Head Vocational Education, Publicity, Gender and Civil Society Liaison Department, Independent National Electoral Commission, Abia state, Edwin Enabo made this known in Umuahia in an interview with News24.com.
Enabo stated that of the 1, 39600 registered voters in Abia state, 1,360862 have been received from INEC headquarters and expressed optimism that the cards will be sent before the election. He commended the way people have been turning out from various collection points in the state to pick up their PVCs and attributed the increase to postponement in the election.

A copy of the submission titled: “Preparations for the 2015 general elections: Progress report,” presented to the Council of State meeting by Jega stated that a total of 45,098,876 PVCs had been collected across the country as of Wednesday.
A document tagged “Attachment 2” attached to Jega’s presentation claimed that the figure represents 65.81 per cent of the 68,833,476 total number of registered voters nationwide.
The document indicated that 3,190,417 voters had collected their PVCs out of the 4,975,701 registered voters in Kano State representing 64.11 per cent of the registered voters.
In Kaduna State, 2,976,628 voters, representing 87.36 per cent, have collected their cards out of 3,407,222 registered voters.
In Lagos State, 2,267,039 voters, representing 38.39 per cent, have collected their PVCs out of 5,905,852 registered voters.
In Katsina State, 2,245,303 voters (79.40 per cent) have collected their cards out of 2,827,943 registered voters.
Bayelsa State has the least number of voters with PVCs. In that state, 386,125 voters (63.26 per cent) have collected their cards out of 610,373 registered voters.
In Abuja, 464,769 voters (52.73 per cent) have collected their cards out of 881,472 registered voters.
In Ekiti State, 496,536 voters (67.83 per cent) have collected their PVCs out of 732,021 registered voters.
Jega, however, said the commission would not conduct elections with TVCs because they (the TVCs) had no chips and could therefore not be authenticated by card readers.
